Art classes are often the first thing on schools’ chopping blocks during tough financial times. But non-profit Art in Action provides art classes to over 100 schools across California and schools in 17 states to ensure that all elementary school students have the ability to creatively express themselves through art.

Fourth graders from Orion Elementary used Charles’ Demuth’s “The Figure 5 in Gold” today as inspiration for their own abstract pieces that incorporated numbers blended into a background of vibrant colors. They were selected as part of the special field trip to the Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club for their particular interest in art.
