Menlo Park Mayor Running for County Supervisor
Kirsten Keith joined five other candidates running for District 4 Supervisor.
Kirsten Keith entered a crowded field of candidates this weekend, when she declared her intent to run for the District 4 seat on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
The official roster of candidates shows Shelly Masur, Redwood City School District Trustee; Memo Morantes, San Mateo County Board of Education Trustee; Ernie Schmidt, Redwood City Planning Commissioner, have also filed paperwork to run for the spot that Rose Jacobs Gibson will vacate on June 5.
Carlos Romero and David Woods, East Palo Alto Councilmembers, have also joined the race.
District 4 encompasses Menlo Park, East Palo Alto and Redwood City and houses 143,443 people, according to the latest census data.
Keith is relatively new to the political scene, but is quickly ascending. She was elected to Menlo Park's City Council in November 2010 and named mayor in December 2011. She sits in the city's Facebook subcommittee with former mayor Rich Cline.
Paperwork declaring intent to run must be submited to the county elections office and completed by 5 p.m. on March 9.
