An Auto Shop Just for Women

How Lady Parts Auto is changing the way women handle their vehicles.

Many women walk into auto shops simply requesting an oil change and then get stuck with a bill saying repairs include a coolant leak, loose brake pedals, a stiff steering wheel and transmission troubles.

It's not uncommon for women to leave completely baffled about exactly what repairs were made to their car and why, Lady Parts Auto owner Mae de la Calzada said. Lady Parts Auto was founded specifically for women who wanted to educate themselves about automobiles and get the necessary repairs done to their cars, nothing more.

"Women from all walks of life can relate to feeling intimidated and inferior when dealing with the automotive industry," de la Calzada said.

The staff focus on explaining and educating women about their vehicle so they know why things are happening and why these things need to be fixed or replaced.

"We communicate in a language you can understand," said the owner.

From the feedback, customers seem quite happy with this service as well. The great prices, coupons, events and even the chocolate they give customers are recognized and appreciated by so many women in the area.

"I enjoyed the information that I learned about my car from Lady Parts," said Cindy in a testimonial on the shop's website. She said she has since referred several others to the shop.

"I have a great deal of anxiety about 'car stuff' and have always hated dealing with it," said Susan in another website testimonial. "I felt like men were very condescending and acted like they did not have the time or energy to treat me respectfully or explain anything."

Aside from the work in their shop, Lady Parts Auto works hard to be part of the community as well. After gathering over 20 local companies together as sponsors, Lady Parts Auto worked on creating a one-of-a-kind awards show featuring hard working mothers. The night included giveaways of many prizes with a grand prize of a car.

As a large community contributor, Lady Parts Auto also welcomes male clients and workers with open arms. For them, automobiles shouldn't be a foreign science, de la Calzada said. Lady Parts Auto is more than just an auto shop, it's an education plus genuine care for its clients.
